# J. Borg Photography > Welcome to J. Borg Photography. I’m Jim, and this is my photography site to showcase some of my favorite photos and talk about all things photography. The newest intrigue has to include AI image generation. Images are no longer created by the photographer from what they see through their lens but from their imagination. Just as digital cameras change photography, AI image generation will change our perception on a whole new level. - Brand: J. Borg Photography --- # Transforming Your Photos: How Midjourney Can Help Source: https://jborgphotography.com/using-midjourney-to-create-new-images-from-original-photos/ In my gallery, [Black and White](https://jborgphotography.com/black-and-white-photos/), there is this image called ***“Old Tires”***. I came across this on a trip while driving through a small town, where I saw a somewhat abandoned building with some old tires and other junk along the side. I knew there was a photo opportunity here. I love run-down buildings and rustic, gritty items. First up is the original photo as shot. It is ok; I could have played around with the color to achieve a different effect, but I thought changing it to black and white would get me closer to what I was thinking. A straight black-and-white image wasn’t enough. Needed more grit. I adjusted the highlights, blacks, clarity, and texture controls in Lightroom until I got what I wanted. I liked the effect so much that I saved the preset and called it "***Dark Alley***". ![Old Tires](https://mlmpvrkfqrlt.i.optimole.com/w:1024/h:768/q:mauto/f:best/https://jborgphotography.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/dark_alley-1.jpg)Old Tires and Junk original photo as shot ![Old Tires with Preset "Dark Alley" applied.](https://mlmpvrkfqrlt.i.optimole.com/w:1024/h:768/q:mauto/f:best/https://jborgphotography.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/dark_alley-2.jpg)Old Tires with Preset "Dark Alley" applied Recently, I have started experimenting with Midjourney. The AI text-to-image conversion program. One of the new features they have added is the ability to upload your own photos, and then Midjourney creates variations based on what they think the image is. To do this, you start with the prompt: /describe, which will write a prompt based on your image. You then upload your image; it thinks about it for a minute and then gives you four different prompts based on the image. You can then choose which one to generate. You can do one or all four. Based on the prompt, it will generate 4 new images based on your image and the prompt you chose. The results can be interesting. It may be very similar to your original image, somewhat close, or something that can surprise you. From here, you can have Midjourney generate 4 new images or create variations from any of the 4. If you find something you like, you can upscale it for the final image. ![Midjourney describe prompt](https://mlmpvrkfqrlt.i.optimole.com/w:auto/h:auto/q:mauto/f:best/https://jborgphotography.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/Midjourney_Describe-Prompt.png)Midjourney describe prompt Here are four of the images that Midjourney generated that I thought captured the original image pretty well. Each is a bit different but stays with the original theme. Once you have an image you like, you can take it into Lightroom or Photoshop and make any changes you like. ![Midjourney version 1 of old tires](https://mlmpvrkfqrlt.i.optimole.com/w:1024/h:771/q:mauto/f:best/https://jborgphotography.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/dark_alley-8.jpg)Midjourney version 1 of old tires ![Midjourney version 2 of old tires](https://mlmpvrkfqrlt.i.optimole.com/w:1024/h:771/q:mauto/f:best/https://jborgphotography.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/dark_alley-7.jpg)Midjourney version 2 of old tires ![Midjourney version 3 of old tires](https://mlmpvrkfqrlt.i.optimole.com/w:1024/h:771/q:mauto/f:best/https://jborgphotography.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/dark_alley-6.jpg)Midjourney version 3 of old tires This image I liked and decided to see how it would look when I applied my "Dark Alley" preset to it. ![Midjourney version 4 of old tires](https://mlmpvrkfqrlt.i.optimole.com/w:1024/h:771/q:mauto/f:best/https://jborgphotography.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/dark_alley-3.jpg)Midjourney version 4 of old tires ![Midjourney version 4 of old tires with preset](https://mlmpvrkfqrlt.i.optimole.com/w:1024/h:771/q:mauto/f:best/https://jborgphotography.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/dark_alley-5.jpg)Midjourney version 4 of old tires with "Dark Alley" preset applied As you can see, Midjourney is capable of producing some interesting new versions of the photographs you've uploaded to it. This should inspire you to rethink how you can use photographs that you may have considered boring or uninteresting or with which you were dissatisfied to generate entirely new images. --- # Vintage 35mm Color Slides For Sale Source: https://jborgphotography.com/vintage-35mm-color-slides-for-sale/ --- # AI Generated Images Source: https://jborgphotography.com/ai-generated/ There is not a single photograph among these several illustrations. There is not a single photograph that depicts a real person or object; these things do not exist in the world we live in. All of them were produced by using AI text-to-image tools such as Midjourney. I was experimenting with a variety of methods to determine how the programs would respond to a variety of inputs in order to produce the desired image. As you can see, AI enables the creation of a vast variety of different types of images. --- # About Source: https://jborgphotography.com/about/ Welcome to J. Borg Photography. I’m Jim, and this is my photography site to showcase some of my favorite photos and talk about all things photography. My interest in photography started at a very young age when I watched my brother develop photos in his darkroom in our basement. My dad enjoyed taking family photos and seemed to buy a new camera every few years. As a teenager, I started using a 35mm SLR and enjoyed taking photos whenever I could. In high school, I was on the school newspaper as a photographer and developed my own film. Over the years, photography has been a hobby, not a profession. I have never been one to need the latest and greatest camera equipment; I bought what I could afford and what suited my needs. When I went back to school to study electronic publishing and graphic arts, I was first exposed to programs like Photoshop and immediately saw what a game changer it would be for photographers. I have used Photoshop during my career and have now ventured into a number of other digital imaging programs. I love all things photography, from collecting vintage cameras to collecting and restoring vintage images. I love how I can take a 60-year-old slide, scan it in, and restore it to something the original photographer may have seen through his lens. I also love how I can take an old photo and, through digital enhancements, create a totally new image. Of course, the newest intrigue has to include AI image generation. Images are no longer created by the photographer from what they see through their lens but from their imagination. Just as digital cameras change photography, AI image generation will change our perception on a whole new level. --- # Services Source: https://jborgphotography.com/services/ --- # Perspective Photos Source: https://jborgphotography.com/perspective-photos/ Look up, look down, look all around, it's a matter of perspective. --- # Rustic Photos Source: https://jborgphotography.com/rustic-photos/ Raw, rough, broken, gritty is what I look for when photographing rustic objects. Nothing better than photographing something that has some age to it and a story waiting to be told. --- # Travel Photos Source: https://jborgphotography.com/travel-photos/ My passion is photography, and traveling is my ideal canvas. Nothing beats the thrill of visiting a new place and discovering its hidden treasures through the lens of my camera. Each site has a distinct story to tell, and a new perspective to capture. The beauty of travel photography is that it allows me to bring the world back home with me, to share my experiences and stories with others, and to relive those moments time and time again. In short, travel photography is a way of life rather than a hobby or a passion. It's a never-ending adventure, a never-ending story, and a memory that will last a lifetime. --- # Object and Closeup Photos Source: https://jborgphotography.com/object-and-closeup-photos/ Sometimes focusing on a part instead of the whole can produce amazing results. The simplest of objects can become interesting photographs. --- # Outdoor Photos Source: https://jborgphotography.com/outdoor-photos/ Nothing beats being in the great outdoors. It gives me a opportunity to grab my camera, go for a walk, go for a hike, get some fresh air and try and capture a great shot. --- # Creative Photos Source: https://jborgphotography.com/creative-photos/ This gallery features photos that I used various image editing programs to experiment adding something to the photo that is not present in the original photo as shot. Sometimes you can take a so-so photo and turn it into a work of art. --- # Black and White Photos Source: https://jborgphotography.com/black-and-white-photos/ Photos that were converted to black and white to bring out a more raw gritty feel, change the mood and add a little drama. I wanted to highlight the contrast, texture, and composition of a scene and felt coveting the image to black and white accomplished that. --- # Nature Photos Source: https://jborgphotography.com/nature-photos/ I love photographing nature and the great outdoors. Some of my favorite photos come from a walk in the woods, a hike or a camping trip. There is so much to photograph in nature, you just need to stop and take a look. --- # Basic ImageBrowser Source: https://jborgphotography.com/basic-imagebrowser/ --- # Home 2 Source: https://jborgphotography.com/ --- # Galleries Source: https://jborgphotography.com/galleries/ This is some placeholder text for the Galleries page.
